Chocolate Bliss Balls

These are my favourite kind of bliss balls as I am addicted to chocolate. I’ve used many different types of nuts for this recipe, but always come back to cashews. They aren’t as strong in flavour as others, so lend themselves beautifully to any flavour you add to them.

Bliss balls are the perfect way to have a guilt free snack that tastes completely naughty. These are high in protein, good fats and anti-oxidants plus they are gluten and refined sugar free as well. They have the added bonus of being vegan too. So, they are great for nearly anyone to enjoy. 

You will need:

  • 1 cup cashews
  • 10 dates or 5 medjool dates
  • 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
  • ¼ cup coconut flakes
  • ¼ cup cacao powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • Water to bind ingredients (approx 1 – 2 tablespoons)

Method:

  1. Weigh and measure ingredients (besides water) and put them in the food processor
  2. Process ingredients until they are broken and resemble breadcrumbs
  3. Add small amounts of water and continue to process until dough comes together in a large ball
  4. Turn out on to bench and separate in smaller portions
  5. Roll into small balls, then dust extra cacao powder
  6. Place in fridge for approximately 3 hours or until they are firm
  7. Store in fridge
